We are a young Seattle non-profit that strengthens child care management. Through the Consortium, high quality child care centers are joining together to share administrative and business responsibilities, while retaining their own unique community and family identity

Our mission is to prepare children for school and life by deeply integrating child-centered, high quality, anti-racist, early childhood education with excellent business practice. Our combined strengths in early literacy, child development, and management enable Sound Child Care Solutions to apply research-based strategies to support high quality outcomes for children.

Americorps Opportunity!

The Consortium offers a structure where centers gain:
The economic strength of being a part of a larger organization, enabling the combined centers greater opportunity to weather economic and enrollment ebbs and flows.
Financial discounts that come from economies of scale in business functions like payroll, benefits management, banking, janitorial, food services and purchasing.
Higher quality early childhood education (ECE) that comes with a more stable financial and organizational structure and a comprehensive approach to professional development.
Technology tools to streamline business and help teachers individualize teaching.

The Vision

Imagine an organization where educating children and running an efficient business are smoothly interwoven and of equal priority.  Imagine a community of teacher-learners where children come first, their families are important and children from all economic backgrounds have an opportunity to participate in a wonderful learning environment. Imagine a non-profit where the use of technology and cutting edge business tools frees funds to continue improving the quality of early learning.  That's us:  Sound Child Care Solutions

Running a child care center requires two completely different skill sets: It is a business, and has to keep the doors open, but it’s also an intimate partner in the important work of educating children. It's hard to excel at both!

How does it work?

What does the Consortium approach have to do with child outcomes?

Research has consistently found that overall administrative practices are crucial for ensuring high quality outcomes for children and families (Bloom, 1989, 1996a, 1996b; Cost, Quality and Child Outcomes study team, 1995; Kagan and Bowman, 1997; Phillips, Mekos, Scarr, McCartney and Abbott-Shim, 2000; Whitebook, Howes and Phillips, 1990).  Without quality systems in place at the organizational level, high quality interactions and learning environments at the classroom level cannot be sustained.  By joining the Consortium, centers will strengthen their administrative practice because directors will have significantly less administrative burden and will be able to access and get support to integrate best practice in every area of administration and management.
